Kitchen automation

I often avoid any cooking or kitchen work because it is very tedious and time consuming. Though the actual work of preparing the dishes takes very little time, you have to spend a lot of time in the kitchen just waiting for the dish to get cooked. If you leave the kitchen to do some other work, you may forget about the dish being cooked and the food may get burnt.

This problem can be solved by connecting all the kitchen appliances to a central computer or controller using network cables. Based on the cooking time for each dish and the amount being cooked, the appliance can be programmed to be switched off after a preset time automatically. A person need not be physically present in the kitchen. This is especially suitable for electrical appliances like microwave ovens.

Depending on the level of noise in the house and the distance from the central controlling unit, either Cat5e or Cat6 cables can be selected. Cat5e are suitable for data transmission over distances of about 100 meters, while Cat 6 cables can carry signals over longer distances.
